10/10/24- Unity

Do you believe we are better together or alone?

Some of you may know these quotes, “We the People,” and “Our Father.” These are associated with The Constitution for our country and The Our Father, prayer given to us by Jesus that is recorded in The Bible. There is no “I” in either of these statements. They are inclusive statements and plural.

Last week, I binge watched a show called “Alone.” The show follows 10 individuals who are dropped off in a remote area. This time it was in Mongolia. They are separated by miles of uninhabited land and divided by rivers. Each individual must establish a home, a food source, and make fire (to boil water to drink, to cook food, to provide heat, and to light the darkness). These every day necessities that we all tend to daily, minus the fire, can be extremely challenging in the wild with limited resources, and alone. The individual who lasts longest, living off the land alone, wins a half million dollars.

Some of the homes built by these individuals, including fireplaces, are very impressive. Their are skilled individuals at hunting, fishing, and trapping food. The thing that presents as the biggest challenge to every single person is the fact that they are alone. Every one of them experience extreme emotional pain from missing loved ones or just being alone that makes them want to quit.

Our mind is so powerful. Our thoughts and what we consume in our thoughts, including self talk is so important. Each one of us are alone in our thoughts. And, each one of us are responsible for choosing what we allow into our minds and thoughts. This is why it is proven that those with a strong faith in God can usually sustain longer when challenges arise.

These individuals all have sources around them: water, trees, animals and fish. The individual, who lasted the longest, was out there alone for something like 55 days. However, Jesus lasted for 40 days in the desert. He had very limited resources and temptations by the devil that would have granted Him something that most humans in this world desire and are tempted with in life. He refused by siting God’s words that were already recorded in the Old Testament Bible. He had these words memorized in His mind.

Humans have such a hard time wrapping their minds around stories that they are told or read about that they can’t conceptualize tackling themselves. However, there are amazing stories of survival that continue to be told and recorded, in books, tv shows and in movies. Some have even been big box office winners. However, only one of them are at the top of the best-selling book list, the stories recorded of Jesus in The Bible.

God knows that we need each other to survive and live our best life in this world. He also longs for us to be reunited with Him in the after life in heaven. Have you challenged yourself to learn from educated individuals what is written and recorded in The Bible?

Exodus 19:8
