How are you at prioritizing?

Oftentimes, we get so caught up in our commitments that we don't slow down and enjoy the important parts of a day. We need to force ourselves to hit the pause button to love on those who are important to us. It is important to prioritize. We blink and a year has slipped away. The importance of creating good memories with those we love is a gift.
Humans were instilled with an internal drive to work and be busy. However, we are easily distracted. The times when I have more on my plate are typically when I get the most accomplished. However, it is so important to remember that the moments with loved ones are a blessing. We must slow down to connect with those God has put in our lives to love.
Last Thursday, instead of writing my blog, I chose to cook a meal for my family. And what a blessed meal this was to all of us. We all connected, shared and enjoyed the tastes of a wonderful meal. Not only did we have food to eat, but we had each other to share it with, a true blessing.
Just like we are reminded to stop and smell the roses, we also must stop and love on those around us. These moments are precious and the older we all get, fleeting. It is important to prioritize the parts of your life that are a gift.
Next to this passage in my Bible was a quote from St. Therese of Lisieux that touched on this post:
"Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing it all for love."
Ephesians 2: 8
"For by grace you have been saved
through faith,
and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God,
not of works,
lest anyone should boast."
