10/25/24- Stand Up

Do you feel there is an importance to having someone on your side?

From the beginning, we see that God wanted us to have others on our side. This is all the more apparent in the fact that we are given a Mother and a Father to help us start our lives and guide us along the way. When we don't have a voice, we have adults who will be heard in this world, and can speak for us.

The importance of having a valued voice is of the upmost. Some adults can be loud without purpose other than to do harm. To have a young child overcome such a state makes them a true survivor, which requires courage, faith, hope, and love.

When we are in a position of need of assistance due to an error in judgement, it is helpful and almost a necessity. Most of us have heard this statement, "A lawyer will appointed if you cannot afford one." Even the state sees the importance of having a reputable voice to support you through a tough time to support your character.

Celebrating and togetherness can provide an environment of joy and festivity. A party of one certainly lacks enthusiasm. However, parties with an abundance of individuals can set the stage for happiness and belonging.

When referencing the Bible, it is evident that God made plans to give us support through other human beings. John the Baptist was the voice that God had designated and sent ahead of Jesus to alert others that One greater than he is coming to baptise with living water. The Old Testament lays claim to the fact that a messenger would proceed the Messiah who would make known that He was coming.

Malachai 3:1- "'Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple. Even the Messenger of the covenant,in whom you delight. Behold, He is coming.'"

The fact that God's Son was sent to us is all the more valid. He sent His messenger to walk among us and commit no sin. This allowed Him to carry our sins with Him to the cross, so that we could turn from our evil ways and believe in Him and all the goodness He longs for us to seek. For the light helps us to see the goodness that is promised to all who believe in Him.

John 1: 26 -31

"John answered them, saying, 'I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.'

These things were done in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, 'Behold The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.' I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therfore I came baptizing with water.'"
