11/1/24- Use Your Time Wisely

How do you see through the mess?

It is becoming easier and easier to access so much information and purchase what your heart and mind want. The easy access to so much can be overwhelming at times. The overaccumulation is a real struggle that many individuals face. So many are blessed in a sense and at the same time more is not always better.

My intense desire to keep order and stay organized requires me to tackle different areas of my life from time to time. Lately, it seems like a daily endevear, as I am helping my youngest to move cross country to start his next chapter. We are attempting to pack most of his daily needs into 4 suitcases.

The front end of prepping to make sure all essentials are gathered is the challenge. Thankfully, I have years of experience that allow me to compartimentalize the different areas that need to be addressed. These concerns are not the same for my son. He is trying to pack in as much fun with friends as he can prior to leaving.

The innocence of life can be freeing at times, and yet it can leave you unprepared in a critical moment. Yesterday, while sifting through my closet, I grabbed the stool that I use to access the top shelf. As I went to push off the ground and thrust myself onto the stool, the force was too great for the leg to accommodate me. With my arm stretched in the air reaching for the box on the top shelf, my tall frame high above the ground the leg of the stool gave way, and down I crashed. As I sat on the closet floor, the pain all over my body was intense. I tried to access the areas where the pain was radiating from. I lifted my shirt and saw a 10 inch purple slash across my rib cage. My right elbow was also screaming with intense pain from where I had tried to grab around the wall to slow my fall.

It is amazing how you can relive an accident, and the recall is as if it is in slow motion. Most all of the details from the incident I was able to reflect back on. I was able to visualize how the injures were accumulated. Also, thankfully in mid-air, as my right arm tried to grab around the corner, I quickly had the insight to abort this idea with thoughts that this could break my arm. After the fall, I sat on the floor for some time and prayed that I wasn't badly injured, meaning that I would need to go to the hospital. Thankfully, nothing was broken or required medical treatment. I was able to ice and take it easy yesterday. However, this also meant a change in some of my daily plans.

In the past 9 years, I have grown more accustomed to changes with my daily plans. These changes have allowed me to slowly let go of control of my own plans and welcome the control that God has on my life. His ultimate desire is for all of His children to return home to Him. This is the most important desire He has for each and every one of us. Are you using your time wisely?

John 3: 36

"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
