2/1/24- Knowledge of Good & Evil

Just because we can, doesn't mean that we should. We do have free will, but even God wants us to chose what is good for us. He wishes to shield us from things that would open our eyes to our own shame.

When God created man and then woman and placed them in the Garden of Eden, He gave man free will to eat from all the trees, except "the tree of knowledge of good and evil." God has provided all we need from the beginning, but He has set parameters to help us live a life that keeps us walking closely with Him.

God said that "in the day you eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall surely die." Adam and Eve did not literally die, but they did die to themselves. They immediately felt shame and wanted to cover their naked and exposed bodies. First, they were like innocent children. After eating from this forbidden tree, their eyes were opened to new emotions and hardship.

1 Corinthians 4:18-19 "Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise."

The innocence of children is such a beautiful reminder and gift of how God wants us to rely on Him. I will always cherish the joy and love that overflowed from within me when I would look into the eyes of my innocent babies. The joy that my children have brought into my life is immeasurable. Thank you Lord!
