2/27/24- Tell the Same Story

Have you ever played the game telephone? The premise is that one person comes up with a story and must whisper the story in the ear of the person sitting next to them. The group which is gathered in a circle, continues this process until it reaches the last person. This last person is then to recount the story out loud to the group. The goal is for the last person who has heard the story to be able to tell the same story that was initially said to the first person in the circle. The result is usually a story that is off base, but mostly similar. Unless there are individuals who really like to get people off track for a good laugh or just to be devious.

As I was working on my bible study this week, I was reminded again, of how many individuals chose to recount and write down the stories and words that they witnessed with Jesus. Not only did they write of their time with Him, they dedicated the rest of their lives to telling others what He said and did.

John, the disciple, wrote in the verses 1- 3 in Chapter 1 of

1 John 1: 1- 3- "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of Life---the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was the Father and was manifested to us--- that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ."

Dedication was exemplified by all these men and women who have continued to tell the same stories of good news for centuries. They also had purpose to share the goodness from the Holy One, Jesus, who had visited with them. The way to eternal life was and is to believe in Jesus to receive eternal life. Jesus and all these disciples, along with all who continue to share the word want only goodness for all.
