2/9/24- Fellowship

Updated: Mar 4

1 John 1: 1

"That which was from the beginning,

which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon,

and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of Life..."

We gathered last night as a family for food and fellowship. My husband Matthew, my sons, Will and Kyle, and my daughter, Grace, along with Will's significant, Jordan. The evening filled my heart with joy to have my family surrounding me. It also warmed my heart that I could serve them a warm and well cooked meal that I had prepared. These children around my table are from Matthew and Jill Countie, whom are from William and Elizabeth Countie and from Peter and Judith Benda. Of course there are several generations that come before us. We are linked all the way back to the beginning.

The youngest apostle John wrote in 1 John recounting the time He spent with Jesus. John wrote that He heard Jesus, saw Jesus, and touched Jesus. John also wrote that Jesus was from God, and the Word of Life. He wrote these letters to try and capture and share the impact his time with Jesus had on his life.

John was also know as Saint John the Beloved and, in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, Saint John the Theologian. John was one of the Twelve Apostles. He was the son of Zebedee and Salome. His brother James was another of the Twelve Apostles. He wrote several other books of the New Testament.

John's motivation for writing 1 John was a desire that others share in fellowship with believers and with the Father- God, and His Son Jesus Christ. John longed for others to spend eternity in fellowship with the Father and other believers. He also wanted others to be full of joy, like the joy he felt with Jesus.

1 John 1: 2- 4

"the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life

which was with the Father and was manifested to us---

that which we have seen and heard we declare to you,

that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father

and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things things we write

to you that your joy may be full."

Enjoy your fellowship and give thanks for all you have been blessed with this week. God wants that same fellowship with you and all His children for eternity.
