6/13/24- Human Nature

How are humans different from God?

Humans are naturally off-putting. We have faults, and we sin. We can harm others with words and actions. We can have doubt and disbelief. However one of God's first commands was "You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord." -Leviticus 19:18

Yesterday I re-read one of my posts titled Concept/ion, and removed a statement that I realized after the fact would be off- putting. The last thing I would want to do is to turn someone away from the goodness of God's glory. However, I am not perfect. I do not want to hide behind this statement, but I do want to try and love my neighbor as myself. This is the greatest most difficult commandment, because as humans we are all off- putting.

One of the greatest feats in this life-time would be to never harm a loved one or a stranger. I believe this is why God had to send Jesus to us. He walked this world blameless. His accounts are recorded in the New Testament of the Bible, by His chosen apostles. Even the devil failed while tempting Jesus three times in the desert. When Jesus was at His most vulnerable state. He was hungry, hot, and deprived of rest, but His faith did not waiver. He merely recited the word of God, which was hidden in His heart. This is a reminder to us to know God's word and use it in times of need to remind us of what is the most important thing in life, love. Jesus knew that there was something greater and a place greater than all this world has to offer. Complete peace, complete acceptance, and complete love awaits all those who believe in Jesus in the afterlife.

Steve Jobs was one of the wealthiest, most successful business men, and innovators. On his deathbed, he acknowledged that all the money, possessions, and recognition pass away and are meaningless. Instead he says, "Treasure Love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends. Treat yourself well. Cherish others."

All the money in the world cannot buy true love. True love is given to each and every one of us who believe in Jesus from His Father, God. He never faultered from His job to love others well, all the way to the cross. The cross He was committed to carry and hang upon for each and every human being who has sinned. What was His crime? What was His passion?

The one thing He was guilty of was love. 🤍
