6/25/24- Servants

Updated: Jun 25

Are we not all servants?

Hopefully above all things we serve God. We are called to serve God with our words, in our hearts and with our thoughts, keeping our thoughts pure and good. As a child we are served until we flee the nest, and are released into the world to serv- ive. The reality is we will serve others to show love, dedication and to be rewarded.

Love is the ultimate form of serving. If we love well, we show our love to others through service. If we love ourselves, we also show our love through service. Love is the most rewarding gift to receive in this lifetime, and it is the most rewarding gift to share with others.

First we must learn to love ourselves. This allows us to share love with someone, a partner and friends. In turn, we multiply our love when we welcome children into our lives. As a Mom or a Dad, we must care for and nurture these new lives which are innocent and helpless. Mom's are required to serve this young life around the clock from the time they enter this world. Those who have a partner are blessed with help and service to restore the sleep-deprived Mother. However, oftentimes our partners are doing their part to service and meet the needs of the family by going to work daily.

The biggest challenge as a Mom does seem like it is in these early years of life, because you are constantly serving these little loves. However, the biggest challenge I have found is letting these loves go out into the world to live their lives and release control of their schedules and choices. Releasing the control over their actions and words and trusting that you have done your job well. Now they are back in God's hands, and as a Mom prayer is a comfort and a necessity to keep peace and trust that God will do as He has promised to love and give hope and a future for all of His children.

In order to make a living and serve and provide for our families, we are called to serve others in our place of business. Our time is often dictated by our bosses with requirements and projects to complete. Often we are rewarded for our tasks with compensation.

As our children are released into the world they learn to follow instruction from others and must serve to allow for order. Serving the needs of the teachers and others is a learned behavior. If we can adapt this learned behavior to follow us throughout our lives, we will reap rewards of love that fullfil our own needs and desires.

Ultimately, all that we do to serve others is to show our love of serving a mighty God. God has built service into our lives for a reason. Our reward is at the end of the rainbow or end of our lives when we are joined with Him again in heaven to love and serve and receive complete love in His presence. This is our reward for a life of service to others. Remember who you are working to please, it is our God.

Colossians 3: 18- 25

18 “Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.”

Not all will reap reward, nor will all receive affirmation, but work as if working for God not looking to receive anything in return. He will greet those who have served Him well with, “Well done good and faithful servant! “
