7/17/24- Guilty

Have you led a blameless life?

Is there any person, apart from Jesus, who can answer yes to living a sin free life? We all know that answer. We all are sinners. The most amazing eye opening revelation to me from the Bible, the word of God, is that He uses those with the greatest sins in The Bible to draw the most people to Him.

The story of Jesus hanging on the cross between two criminals is still available for all of us to read, learn, and guide us. Remember the man on the cross who hung next to Jesus, who confronted the other criminal who had blasphemed Jesus. He said, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23: 40- 43

Jesus pardoned this criminal from his transgressions here on earth, and reassured him because he believed that Jesus was God. Jesus forgives all of us for our past actions, if we believe. Man or woman is not so easy to forgive another man or woman, especially when they don’t believe in God. This causes hearts to harden and joy to dwindle in his or her life.

Another great example of the transforming of a man,’s evil ways is Paul. Paul who was Saul, and killed countless, yes countless Jews, became one of Jesus and God’s greatest encouragers for all Christians. He wrote 13 books that were initially letters written to congregations and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, to encourage them to stay the path. They are all recorded in the New Testament, and available for all to read today.

After an encounter with God that left Saul/Paul blind for 3 days, Paul gave the rest of his life to sharing the story of how God had appeared to him and left him blind, and then how God had restored his sight exactly how He had told him He would. He changed from his evil ways, as he once had lived, to spreading the word of God and the truth that Jesus was the Son of God. Paul gave up everything he had gained on earth to help others learn about the amazing gift of eternal life through Jesus, who gave His life for all who believe.

One of the Beatitudes stands out to me in this current time in history, as we are called to trust in God to provide a leader for our great nation. Remember to seek the truth and rely on God’s word, which is truth, to guide you to steer clear from those who promise false ways.

Luke 6: 22- 23

“Blessed are you when men hate you,

And when they execute you,

And revile you, and cast out your name

as evil,

For the Son of Man’s sake.

Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!

For indeed your reward is great in

heaven,

For in like manner their fathers did to

the prophets.”
