7/8/24- Trust

Have you surrendered fully to trusting God at times in your life?

We had a long fun-filled weekend, celebrating with family and friends for the 4th of July. The weekend had a big bookend with my youngest son parachuting out of a plane with two others friends to hopefully check this off the bucketlist items. I completely surrendered to trusting God that Kyle would be ok.

It's amazing how someone might want to jump out of a completely good plane. This was my husband's input regarding my son's desire to skydive. I have to say, I have had this same desire to skydive, and may still partake. After my son completed his dive yesterday, he called me and gave me the highlights reel. He finished with, "You should do it."

My friend and I had made a pact to skydive when we turned 50 years old. We still haven't "executed" this activity. We are Moms and Wives and Daughters who have a lot of people to consider with our decisions that we make. Oftentimes, these titles require us to consider others before ourselves.

Within the past month, Kyle has completed the necessary steps to reconstructing his body following his jetskiing accident. The accident occurred a year and 5 months ago. We both know what it took to get him put back together. Several surgeries, hospital visits, staples, stitches, screws, plates, doctor's appointments, dentist appointments, physical therapy appointments, root canals, oral surgeries, implants, and finally the last space in his mouth was filled a few weeks ago with a tooth. These required steps to helping him resume his life, with little reminders of scars and some residual aches and pains, were necessary. I continue to count our blessings that he has been able to be repaired and healed.

This is all the more reason that I have had to rely and trust God with his desire to skydive. Things do not always go as planned. Accidents happen. People endure suffering and recovery protocol. All four of us, family members, tried to get Kyle to reconsider his decision. All of the friends I shared this with did not have positive input either.

I have learned through my suffering and Kyle's suffering that we make our own choices, and we have to endure the consequences. Even God learned that humans do not like to be told what to do. Humans will often times do what they have been told not to do. Therefore, I surrendered to trust God with Kyle's life and decision. Thank God again, he is safe.

Proverbs 3: 5- 6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not rely

on your own understanding;

in all your ways

know Him,

and He will make

your paths straight."
