8/2/24- Joyous Obedience

Are you obedient and joyful?

The Olympics are my favorite sporting events to watch on t.v.. I love to see the success story of athletes play out. Just competing at the Olympics is such an amazing accomplishment. Those who medal receive icing on the cake for all their sacrifice and discipline throughout their lifetimes. Joy usually is revealed by the athletes following these events, as athletes are becoming better at celebrating their victories.

It is becoming prevalent again to hear athletes giving God the glory for their acheivements in post performance interviews. Individuals who acknowledge that God allowed them to have faith in Him and therefore in themselves to use their gifts to glorify God the Father.

Resounding joy comes from God. It is through faith and obedience that joy is gifted to God's followers. Joy is in direct correlation to your proximity to the Lord in your daily walk. The obedient walk to keep God's commands are what He calls us to do. These acts of obedience are also required of an elite athlete by his/her coach. The coach requires them to come to all practices, to eat the right foods and to get adequate sleep.

Obedience requires us to make sacrifices. However, the sacrifices God's individuals make to stay on the path that He is guiding us on are usually provided so that our joy will not leave us but accompany us along our daily walk. It is when we stray from our path of obedience and walking with God that we face a challenge in order to correct our pathway and reconnect us with Him. He wants goodness for each of His children in this lifetime, and He wants to protect us from the pain that sin causes.

Yet again, there have been some amazing performances and races thus far in the Olympics. It is amazing what the most decorated athletes, like Simon Biles and the entire women's gymnasts team, have accomplished. The swimming athletes had some amazing performances as well: Katie Ledecky, Katharine Berkoff, Regan Smith, Gretchen Walsh, Kate Douglas, Torri Huske, Simon Manuel, as well as Leon Marchand. There has been so much joy and celebrating after all these years of hard work and sacrifice made by these athletes Congratulations to all the athletes competing at the Olympics representing their countries, such an astonishing accomplishment.

Happy Fri-yay! Yay Yay! Go USA!

John 15: 10- 12

"If you keep My commandments,

you will abide in My love,

just as I have kept My Father's commandments

and abide in His love.

'These things I have spoken to you,

that My joy may remain in you,

and that your joy may be full.

This is My commandment,

that you love one another

as I have loved you.'"
